Ironman Copenhagen

September 23, 2025

One month ago, I finished my first full Ironman in Copenhagen. It was a great experience! My quick summary: the swim was pure chaos, the bike was absolutely beautiful, and the run was awfully painful. The swim takes place in a lagoon, and only occasional seaweed was an annoyance. According to the website, the bike ride features roughly 1,100 m of elevation gain, which sounds like a lot, but spread over six hours it's under 200 m per hour. There isn't a single big climb—the course is all rolling hills. Part of the ride runs along the coast with a great view. The run is divided into five rounds of the same track through the city, which is great because it means there are a lot of spectators cheering.
